  2. Avoid purchasing toys with rigid or sharp points, rods, spikes, or dangerous edges.
  3. Purchase toys that meet the safety standards of American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) or the Health Canada Consumer Product Safety Office. 
  4. Only buy toys that are meant for the child’s age, maturity and ability. 
  5. Inspect toys before giving to children.
  6. Show children how to use the toy safely.
  7. Supervise children while playing
  8. Fix or throw away broken toys. 
  9. Have children wear the right protective eyewear for sports
